Behind the scenes
Growing up, we encountered a lot of questions about our identity that normal Malayali kids might not have. “Who are you, a Malayali or a Konkani? “What is your origin?” “Why do you wear a poonool?” “Why do you have so many rituals during festivals?” “Does your language have a script?” “Why is your food so different?” etc. Despite not having all the answers, we have embraced the journey of discovering and exploring our Konkani heritage. The Konkani community is one of the most diverse ethnic groups in India and is spread across the world. Let it be culture, language, festivals, cuisine, Konkani’s are unique.

We, Anjali and Vivek, a Konkani couple based in Bangalore, are working to rekindle Konkani culture, traditions, and people through storytelling, discussions, and more. Here we are with our mission of bringing this community together through “House of Konkanis”
